IM Spring Break, brought to you by IM Broadcast, kicked off with a bang on April 2nd in sunny Deerfield Beach, Florida. The conference, hosted by Dave Snyder, Loren Baker, and Jordan Kasteler, brought internet marketers from around the world together to discuss search optimization, social media, and affiliate marketing. If you happened to miss out on the experience, below are some great videos, photos, podcasts, and posts that cover what went down in Florida.

As usual we were able to count on Dana Lookadoo to take a photo of every single person at the event, check out her Flickr Album. Alex Rios of SEO Sumo also took some spectacular photos that can be seen through their Flickr album.

So you’ve looked through the photos and you’re really starting to wish you were there. Let us rub it in a little more with a few interviews from Tony Adams, Neil Patel, Joe Hall, Michael Dorausch, and, Jon Henshaw. Here is a little sample of what you missed out on, check out ITs VS SEOs with Loren, Carolyn, Will, and Rhea.

Our great friends at Webmaster Radio, including the legendary Brasco, came out and spent some time with the IM Spring Breakers. They have a great three part series with interviews with some of the greatest minds in the industry; check them out (1, 2, 3).
Still wondering what you missed out on? Well you’re in luck my friend. Some of our great attendees have written in-depth summaries about what they learned at IM Spring. Shana Albert (TheNanny612, no she’s not british) provided us with great coverage of Chris Winfield’s opening keynote, creating content for social media, leveraging social news and bookmarking, building a brand through social media, insights on IM business sessions, and most importantly 23 Reasons You Should have attended IM Spring Break.

Erin Zerbe showed us how social media can help your business and the importance of “sticky” content creation for social media. SEO Sumo not only made the Sushi, they also provided a great IMSB wrapup. Even John Henshaw of Raven SEO Tools learned something at IM Spring Break. Our own Janna Baker showed us how healthy you can eat, even at a conference.

Speaking of food, SEO Sumo & Todd Malicoat were the geniuses that sponsored and made fresh Sushi on the last night of IMSB. Don’t forget the homemade Chocolate Chip cookies that Alysson Fergison (SEOAly) brought for everyone to enjoy at the conference. Thanks to Aaron Chronister (TheMadHat) for attempting to teach the staff of the Deerfield Beach Hilton how to make a perfect Bacon Explosion.

And don’t forget about the IM Road Trip crew, Pamela Lund (That Pam Chick) & CK Chung (Kid Disco), who road tripped from San Diego, California to Deerfield Beach, Florida. You can follow their progress on SEO Disco and through their #IMRoadTrip twitter stream.

In February, because of the demand for tickets, we decided to impose a price increase for IM Spring Break tickets beginning March 1st. They would be raised from $500 to $750.

We began getting emails from hopeful attendees saying they felt this was against the spirit of our conference, and its quest to be THE most value based conference series in Internet marketing. We got similar emails from our sponsors Raven SEO Tools and BOTW.org.

We heard everyone loud and clear.

In fact, we really took the emails to heart.

Thanks to our sponsors we are going to offer attendees a stimulus package of our own. Today, and for the rest of ticket sales, we will be selling seats to IM Spring Break for $379. If you already bought your tickets, no worries, you will receive $121 dollars in stimulus cash at the event.

$379 for three days of training with the likes of Neil Patel, Chris Winfield, Brent Csutoras, Todd Malicoat, Rae Hoffman, Jeff Quipp, Li Evans, Wil Reynolds, and many others. That comes out to about $125 a day for great training, great networking, and great food.

With our hotel rate of $119 you can travel to attend the entire conference for less than $800. April is beautiful in South Florida, and you can experience a conference and amazing hotel stay, that is more on par with a educational vacation, for less than the price of a ticket to most conferences.

The price of admissions also covers our two parties on Thursday and Friday night. Poker, food, drinks, and fun.

This will be the best Internet marketing event in 2009, and we want you there.

With a price tag of $379, you don’t even have an excuse for not being a part of the fun.

A video instruction is a good way to please your customers and to help spread the word:

- People are more inclined to buy if they are able to see the product and evaluate its features before buying it;

- People are more eager to spread the word if they clearly understand what they are promoting;

- People are more likely to review your product on their sites if they have additional content types (images, videos, graphs, etc) to put in the article.

All in all, videos are easier to digest and more fun to promote. A good video instructing how to use your product or navigate your resource will help you a lot: you’ll see fewer questions from your (potential) buyers and more bloggers embedding it in their pages. It is not really too hard to create a vide, just mind a the following tips:

Make it simple. Don’t try to describe all features as you will end up with another boring video no one can watch up to the end. Besides, with online video you should also mind the load time (not to lose those people that were going to watch but left before the video loads). If you have a lot to say, better split the video in several tutorials / chapters.

Make it at least a bit entertaining: just a few visual effect will add some spice even to a video instructing on a purely technical stuff;

Refrain from directly emphasizing “why” people should buy your product. In other words, don’t make it too “infomercial”. Don’t force it - your product should speak for itself.

Don’t use widely used pitches or infomercial cliches (they are recognizable by anyone and have negative connotation by now).

Now let’s take a look at few examples:

An instructional video that tells basically nothing:

This video is meant to be an instruction on how to use a new FireFox addon that shows similar website in its sidebar while you browse. I installed the addon but never saw a single site in the site bar, so I went to their website, clicked “More Info” and found this video. Did it give me “more info” or answer my question or properly explain how to use the tool? No, no and no.

Purely instructional video:

I love the tool and the resource but would be more eager to watch the video if it were at least a bit more entertaining. I don’t mean it needs music or cartoons, of course not. But just a few visual effects: color highlighting or subtitles would do.

Purely infomercial (but funny):

Both instructional and infomercial video:

The video may look good: I like the kangaroo character that guides me through the features, visual effects that still keep me up to the point and other entertaining elements that prevent me from being bored. I feel like trying the tool already. What I didn’t like was the infomercial-style voice speech behind the scene. Too many cliches made me feel I am being persuaded to buy something I don’t need: “what if”, “any time anywhere”, “fresh and free”, etc.

Instructional commercial (but not infomercial): Apple iPhone

Note: no matter how many features the product has to offer, the video is limited to only few basic ones which makes the video easy to digest. Thus without even trying to add any entertaining motives, the creators managed to produce a video that sells. And no matter how great your video is you need Search Engine Marketing services to properly promote it and make sure it’s driving conversions.

A note aside , you can also check out the commercial parody for some fun.

The buzz about IM Spring Break is growing, and with it the desire for tickets.

IMBroadcast.com has thus decided to open up the tickets to the event from a limit of 200 to 300. Allowing more people to take part in what many are considering the “must attend” Internet Marketing event of the year.

In order to show value to those that we’re motivated early to get their tickets, we have decided to end the $500 price for tickets on February 28th. Through March, and for the rest of the ticket sales, the tickets will go for $750 a piece.

Fret not, because if we sell out before February 28th everyone will be going for $500. Even at $750 we are offering hands down the best value in an Internet Marketing conference in 2009.

And with this great announcement, comes another chance to get a FREE ticket.

From this point, through Friday the 20th, the person that can get the most retweets about IM Spring Break will win a FREE ticket. It is that simple. Tweet about IM Spring Break, and get the most retweets, and you will win.

On Friday the 20th, send us a screenshot or other evidence of your retweets to info@imbroadcast.com, and we will announce the winner on Monday the 23rd.

It is not easy at all to find a good and affordable service to create a viral video to promote your brand. The services are very few and rates are very high. A good way out is to search for a self-employed or freelance video creator throughout film making forums and communities. Join and participate - there are a lot of benefits you can get from them:

Build long-term relationships with truly creative people you will be able to turn to each time you need to spice up your promotional campaign;

Find inspiration by reviewing and rating others’ work: create unique advertising campaigns;

Promote your own video, ask for advice and recommendations.

The only time you will need to seek out a professional is when it comes to finding an experienced video search engine optimization company. This will save you time and money when it comes to creating exposure for your newly created video. Otherwise take a look at the great options out there.

Filmmaking Forums

StudentFilms forum is a very active community of filmmaking students and experts sharing their diaries, tutorials and books. It is more about education than networking but you should check it out if you seek expert advice and educated approach.

B-roll is a fairly active forum discussing video creation. You will see members reviewing each other’s movies (Video Critique section), discussing technical issues and tools (Video Editing forum), sharing news and articles (News board). The forum also contains a separate section for self-employed filmmakers called “Freelance” where you can search for a creative and reliable partner.

Filmmaking.net is another great forum uniting independent film makers under its roof. It is more oriented to creating movies and documentary than to discussing short viral videos and commercials. However you will be able to find a bunch of talented people there who will recommend a good video creation service for you. Besides, you can post your own job offer - they have a separate forum for people searching for film making service.

Filmmaking Social Networks

Shortfilms.com is a community encouraging self-employed film makers to upload and advertise their videos. With it you can choose a good film maker to create a viral video for you by viewing their creations. The site has a huge tag cloud for you to easily navigate throughout the videos.

OpenFilm is another cool place to check. It has quite an active community and a large database of independent movies to browse. You might also want to take a look at their Awards section for most popular picks.

IMBroadcast.com’s second event is coming up in April. IM Spring Break , April 2-4, is capturing a ton of buzz in the industry, and rightfully so. We are bringing some of the best minds in social media, affiliate marketing, paid search, SEO, corporate video production, and internet marketing business development together for 3 days of interactive education and networking in a small setting.

The ticket price of $500, nearly 1/3 the price of most industry events, doesn’t hurt either.

The Contest

We are a group that likes to give back to the community.

In that spirit we have devised a great contest that will allow one lucky winner to walk away with a ticket to IM Spring Break, as well as a four night stay at the Hilton Deerfield Beach.

Contest Rules

The contest is easy.

Tell us 7 things you think will happen at IM Spring Break.

Make it funny, make it serious, make it intersting.

Steps for the Contest

1) Enter the contest by wrinting your post and linking back to this post.

Now the twist.

This is a meme. ( a neologism used to describe a catchphrase or concept that spreads quickly from person to person via the Internet)

2) Once you create your post, tag as many people as you can (contact people interested in going to the event or simply friends) to create their own list of 7 things that will happen at IM Spring Break and link back to your post

3) The person with the most pingbacks to their post will win. (this means it has to be done on a blog)

4) If you are tagged by someone please play fairly and link to them, but you can also link to this orginal post as well to enter yourself, and begin tagging yourself.

This should be a fun excercise, and get everyone hyped about the awesomeness of IM Spring Break.

Our 7 Things

So we thought we would do an example of our seven things in our post.

1) We are looking forward to kick ass keynotes from Chris Winfield and Rae Hoffman

2) We are looking forward to Jordan Kasteler aka Utah SEO Pro getting hopelessly wasted

3) We are looking forward to all the new contacts we will make via the awesome networking events.

4) We are looking forward to all the tips and insight offered by the attendees, which is the real difference of an IMBroadcast.com event.

5) We are excited to see new speakers Greg Finn, Kenny Hyder, and Steve Plunkett get a shot at proving their brilliance.

6) We are excited about social media experts such as Zaibatsu (Reg Sadler) , Neal Rodriguez, Brent Csutoras, Chris Winfield, Todd Mailcoat, and Jeff Quipp.

7) We are excited to offer the best value in an internet marketing conference EVER!

Conclusion

So there you go.

Start writing, and tagging.

The contest will run through February, and the winner will be announced March 1st.

Good Luck!

So we have finally announced our next event, IM Spring Break.

It took the IMBroadcast.com team a bit of time to announce the next event officially, because we were trying to make sure it would surpass the awesomeness that was Scary SEO. We have achieved that difficult goal.

We are returning to the same venue as Scary SEO, the Deerfield Beach Hilton, because of the overwhelming positive response to the location the first time around. Also, where else would you have a Spring Break themed event other than Ft. Lauderdale, Fl?

The event will be three days long, starting on April 2nd and ending on April 4th. Each day will be focused on a facet of Internet Marketing. April 2 will be social media marketing focused, April 3 will be dedicated to search marketing , and April 4 will include affiliate marketing education.

Our speakers include:

Jeff Quipp

Chris Winfield

Brent Csutoras

Todd Mailcoat aka Stuntdubl

Rae Hoffman aka Sugarrae

Brian Chappell

Wil Reynolds

Kenny Hyder

Carolyn Shelby

Rhea Drysdale

Michael Streko

Aaron Chronister

David Szetela

Brandy Eddings

Frank Watson

Chris Hart

Pamela Lund

Neal Rodriguez

Loren Baker

Jordan Kasteler

David Snyder

and more to be announced.

Scary SEO was such a success due to the incredible networking that went on. For this reason we have made this event even more networking focused. Each session will still include an NDA group share, there will be breakfast and lunch for networking, and each evening will include an event.

April 2nd to kick off our networking we will be holding a sponsor appreciation cocktail hour and poker tournament.

April 3rd we will be holding a pool side bar-b-que, with some special fun planned.

The event will be one to remember, but there are only 198 tickets availbable at the time this post was written, so if you are planning on attending, I would secure your spot ASAP.

Stay tuned for more information on the event as it approaches.

And we are looking forward to seeing you in Ft.Lauderdale.

The IMBroadcast.com team would like to welcome you to the IMBroadcast blog.

As we build the community, that will be the foundation of IMBroadcast, we want this blog to represent the line of communication between the members of the site, and those making decisions about the site.

IMBroadcast was founded upon the concept of offering a portal to the internet marketing community where they can share their content with the rest of the industry. We want to build this community to address the needs of its users, and because of that we want this to be a two means of communication.

IMBroadcast was launched last week to a great deal of industry excitement. Since that point the team has worked feverishly to improve the user experience of the site.

We have:

1) Improved the stability of our platform, to make sure the viewing and uploading experience is as smooth as possible.

2) Asked some of our industries most savvy social media and video minds to be moderators on the site, to help classify content, and ensure a quality user experience.

3) Added a Youtube grabbing capability for embeded video from the major video platform. This makes sharing video you already have uploaded an easy two step process.

4) Added a “Tweet This” feature in the Social Bookmarks section of each video page, that easily allows you to tweet out the link for any video along with a message, without having to leave the IMBroadcast site.

5) Created widgets that allow you to share the content on IMBroadcast with your blog readers, or add our feed to your iGoogle page.

And not we have created this blog allow YOU to have a say in the future changes we will make.
